Mamady Keita - Sila Laka

Mamady's 9th album (2004) is an updated version of his very first album, the classic "Wassolon." This CD has been nicknamed "Sila Rocka"and is a wonderful introduction to those who are new to drumming.

Fifteen years after Mamady recorded his first album, the classic "Wassolon" he realized his dream of a new recording of these rhythms, performed by a group of young musicians (and a few old friends) who shared his vision and in whom he could place his trust. Sila Laka (which means 'Open Road' or 'Open the Way' in Malinke) was recorded in Guinea. Mamady has added Abondan to the original eleven rhythms. In addition, the original bird recording from Kassa has also been retained.
